Palm Traffic Set for Shake Up

by Orwell HuxleyOctober 31, 2019

Traffic on the Palm is set for a shake up as new routes to buildings on the main trunk are put in place as Nakheel, the Palm master developer, gets ready for the Nakheel Mall opening “in November”.

According to a notice, sent out by Nakheel, “Nakheel Mall’s unique location and design has resulted in changes to some road traffic routes around the island.

These changes have now taken effect (2 am on Sunday, 3 November), and are especially relevant to people living or visiting the Fairmont Hotel or Residences, Golden Mile and some of the Shoreline Apartments.

So far traffic has been flowing smoothly. The real test however will come when the Nakheel Mall opens, on the 21st November, and traffic flows begin to increase. The road linking the Golden Mile side to the Shoreline side consists of a single lane through a tunnel.

U-Turns on the trunk roads are now blocked off. Let's hope Nakheel improves the aesthetics.

Shoreline Apartments 7-10, access route is unchanged, but to exit residents now head North on the Shoreline trunk road.

Shoreline Apartments 11-14, access is now via the Golden Mile road (north bound).

Fairmont the Palm, access is now via the Shoreline trunk road. (Take the last slip road between Apartment buildings 9 and 10 for the most direct route).

Golden Mile 7 – 10, access route is unchanged, but head North to exit on the Golden Mile road.
